There’s a beautiful Oak Forest at the base of the Sugar Loaf in Wicklow – it’s off the beaten track a bit, only accessible via a two mile lane which barely fits one car (and is two-way!). I was exploring it when I stumbled across this place – it was a swamp, completely water-logged to the point where these trees were almost floating. You would be knee-high in it if you stepped into this photo. The vegetation reminded me of clouds – I’d never seen anything like these mossy hummocks. Magic place.
