There is a forest park called Kilmacurragh Arboretum near Rathnew in Wicklow, and it is a really special place. At this time of year, there are rhododendron trees 20, 30 feet tall – all laden down with pink flowers the size of your hand. See below – the light was a bit flat, but the place still looked straight out of Willy Wonka. My 4 year-old couldn’t believe her eyes!
